Alex takes Junior Championship at Sprints

A total of 17 Wroughton swimmers entered the County Sprints at Milton Road on 11th March ’17 – they all performed really well. There were many PB’s but it’s not a distance that is used that often, so that was to be expected. 12 swimmers came away with Age Group placings in the top 3, winning 5 Golds, 6 Silver and 10 Bronze medals in the Age Group events.

Good to see 3 of our younger swimmers medalling with Leina Matsushima (2nd & 3rd), Jamie Black (3rd) and Ben Evans also a (3rd). Well done – let’s hope it’s the start of many more medals to come.

Our Mixed Medley Relay team of Adam Wright, Isaac Mullaliu, Josh Ricketts, Billy Castle, Jess Black Katy Wright, Alex Applegate and Rebecca Gee came a close 3rd place in what was the Championship final, after a very exiting race.

From the Age Group results, Junior & Senior placings overall are awarded with Alex Applegate leading the way – quite literally – winning the Junior Championship for the Freestyle, and finishing 4th in the Senior competition. To this she also added a 4th place in the Fly for the Junior Championships.  Josh Ricketts also swam to two 3rd places in the Senior Freestyle & Fly, with Rebecca Gee securing a 5th place in the Senior Freestyle and Isaac Mullaliu a 5th in the Breaststroke.

Further places in the Junior Championships (under 16’s) were secured by Katy Wright (2nd in the Breaststroke), Harry Ricketts (5th in the Breaststroke) and Josh Seward (4th in Freestyle).

Congratulations to all concerned
