Swimmers and parents gathered together for the Club Annual Presentation evening at the Ellendune Centre, on Friday 5th January. Hardly anyone was missing from the annual ‘not to be missed’ event of celebration and partying. It was a time for dressing up for most and an opportunity to practice wearing the high heels – well for the older girls at least. Fashion – I think that’s what they call it, was on display big time and the swimmers all worked hard at looking the part. The parents did their bit too…….
The awards were presented by Dave Jones (Club Treasurer) who this year is also President of Wilts County ASA, John Vincent (Club President), Sarah Wright (Club Secretary) and Joanne Ovens on behalf of the teaching team. Virtually every swimmer was present to collect their awards, which were really distinctive and well received.
Winner of the Sash Chetty award, given for the swimmer demonstrating commitment and determination, was Danny Mula. Judging by the response from the other team members, a well justified and popular decision.
Good to hear some wise words from our President, always there to offer support where necessary, and to put things into perspective. We have all lost count of the years John has been ever present on Club nights, giving instruction and encouragement to our young swimmers. Long may it continue – we value your support John, thank you from everyone.
And so to the dancing – everyone seemed to participate – thanks to Nick who, as usual found the right mix to suit everyone. Led as usual by the older swimmers the younger ones demonstrate that the future is bright in that department.
Thanks to everyone who pitched in and got things done – as we do at Wroughton. Fay and her team worked exceptionally hard to make the evening yet another outstanding event, helped by Nick our resident DJ.
