Wilts ASA Presidential Dinner

After recent difficulties trying to get sufficient numbers together to make a County Dinner viable, the 2018 Dinner, staged by Wroughton ASC was a resounding success, with 100 members and their guests sitting down to enjoy a social occasion – with not a swimming pool in sight.

Dave Jones was this years President and hosted Viv Perry (President Welsh ASA), Paul Robbins (President ASA South West Region) and Pat Stratford (Immediate Past President of Wilts ASA) together with their partners. A record number of County Past Presidents and Life Members were in attendance at what may turn out to be the ‘Last Supper’.

There were only two speeches, with Viv Perry proposing the toast to the county, to which Dave Jones responded. This left plenty of time for old swimming friends to exchange stories and experiences from the past.

Members of Wroughton ASC, past and present did Dave proud, making up more than 50% of those in attendance. A good time was had by all with past parents, ‘old’ swimmers and a group of current swimmers who, as usual, danced the night away.

Thanks are due to Sandra, who called in many favours to boost the attendance to a record level, and Sarah Wright for making all the arrangements for a successful event.
