Katie Wright – County Champion

After some last-minute changes to the competition, caused by some problems with the lane ropes at Milton Road, the 2018 Sprints took place on Sunday 24th March ’17 at the Link over 25m.

Star of the event for Wroughton ASC was Katie Wright, winning the 25m Breaststroke ,Junior Championship by 0.01 seconds – the narrowest of margins. After swimming 17.59 in the heat, winning her Age Group, Katie improved her time for the Junior Championship final in 17.21.

The popular Sprint competition saw a packed bath-side at the Link, with spectators taking in in turns to watch their swimmers, but everyone seemed to accept the difficult situation the County had been placed in.

There were some really good swims from our swimmers in their age group events,, with the following medallists:

Rebecca Gee – 1st 25m Freestyle, 1st 25m Backstroke & 2nd 25m Butterfly

Josh Seward – 2nd 25m Breaststroke

Alex Applegate – 1st 25m Butterfly & 2nd 25m Freestyle

Harry Ricketts – 3rd 25m Backstroke

Amelia Hawkins – 3rd 25m Breaststroke

Congratulations to all that entered – especially our newly crowned County Champion !
